Samara is a partner of DDO Health Law where her practice concentrates on privacy, data governance, health
and technology. She regularly counsels clients on a wide range of matters related to privacy, data
protection, health law, and technology licensing. Prior to joining DDO Health Law, Samara was a sole
practitioner, where her clients included major Ontario hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, health-tech
start-ups and multinational telecommunications companies. Samara previously led the privacy
department at CancerCare Ontario (now Ontario Health).
Samara provides practical and strategic advice to assist organizations in responsible innovation. She has
taught Privacy Law in Canada at Windsor Law School, and regularly speaks and writes on topics related to
privacy and health law.
Samara received her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and holds a Master of Laws in Health Law and
Policy from the University of Toronto. Samara was called to the bar in 2005, She is also a Certified
Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
